Wow, the Ron Paul Revolution is REAL!
Well, the first test is over. 10% wouldn’t be significant…. if there was a candidate taking 60% or more of the pie. However, when we have the winner scoring in the 30’s it’s quite notable.
Why is 5th place @ 10% a significant boost for The Ron Paul campaign? Well, the reasons are many.
First off, Ron Paul started off almost a year ago not even showing up on Iowa’s polling radar. He has been touted as the laughable fringe candidate that only lives “online.” 10% is hardly fringe votes.
In an interview earlier today campaign manager Kent Snyder discussed how difficult it is to get from 1% to 10%. And how exponentially quicker it is to make the jump from 10% to a majority.
Iowa is an off state. It’s importance is merely in the respect that it is the first state in the nation to pick party lines. It is automatically discounted, when you look at the fact that 60% of the state identifies itself as “evangelical”, and all the more polar when we see that 80% of the Huckster’s vote identified themselves as “evangelical.” In no way am I saying Evangelical Christians are all loonies, but merely pointing out their “herd” mentality for the most part. These are the people that march against the death of the unborn, and at the flip of a switch march in support of the murder of millions in America’s endless, un-winnable wars.So looking at the climate and environment of Iowa, isn’t it actually invigorating to see where Dr. Paul is at? He slaughtered “front-runner” Giuliani, and came within a few points of 3rd place.
If John McCain is bragging about his 4th place finish @ 13%, how much more should the Ron Paul Revolution be ecstatic, knowing that the revolution is real. The people are out there, and they are showing up to vote. The media is talking about us. Some of them are even calling for Dr. Paul to be let in to the “fair and balanced” Fox News debate forum, which has still been obstinate to consistent demands to let Ron Paul speak.
As we look forward to New Hampshire and then to South Carolina, good things are ahead. From Zogby’s prediction that Ron Paul could end up surprising the New Hampshire vote we will propel the campaign into light speed. Our rocket (or blimp) will be moving a speed and strength which no one can stop, not even the most determined neo con machine.
Yes it’s true, the Ron Paul Revolution has begun!

Why is everyone making such a big deal about Paul finishing ahead of Giuliani? That was a foregone conclusion. No one doubted that Rudy was going to tank in Iowa.
No one doubted that Paul was going to rate low in Iowa, either. The straw poll results are looking right - and he won most of the straw polls!
Ron Paul beats Guliani…blowback for a blowhard
Guliani got alot of free press and was the media picked front runner…Ron Paul was and still is shunned by a good bit of the media. (Fox News)
Time for Huckabee’s 15 minutes of fame to end now.
When did Zogby make that prediction? I’m an RP supporter (just got back from Iowa) but don’t remember reading that. Can you put up a link?
LIKELY VOTE COUNT FRAUD IN IOWA REPUBLICAN CAUCUS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

LIKELY VOTE COUNT FRAUD IN IOWA REPUBLICAN CAUCUS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
Former FBI Division Chief, Ted Gunderson [see: 1-free-dvd.com and tedgunderson.com] sent a private investigator to Iowa for the republican caucus.
This investigator discovered suspicious VOTE COUNT activity that may prove that Dr. Ron Paul and his supporters are victims of fraud. The investigation is continuing and a full report is forthcoming. Meanwhile, for more information other investigators may collaborate and contact Ted Gunderson @ 337-235-0651.
ATTENTION ALEX JONES.

Don’t forget Michigan their primary is on Jan 15th. Everyone counts in the Revolution! They can use everything we can throw at them too!
BlogCruiser
“herd” mentality ??
Suzanne thanks for the correction. Boy do I feel stupid when I can’t proofread my own work properly.
Blogcruiser, I am with you! As a Michigan resident and RP worker, let’s keep up the hard work and do all we can!
I can’t wait! If there’s voter fraud in Iowa, Ron Paul is going to win in Illinois for sure!
Tom Paine,
Check these two links out… In a blind Zogby poll. Ron Paul placed first in the country..

Fifth is fifth, folks. If Ron Paul doesn’t poll more than 15% in the next few primaries, he best think about an independent run.
If Giuliani drops out, you think Ron Paul will pick up his voters? Not likely. If Fred drops out, you might pick up a third of those, but- if Fred does drop out- that certainly won’t be much help. Romney’s folks? No way.
After 40 years in the trenches of GOP politics, I am fairly comfortable at reading the terrain of the party. Fifteen percent is about the best Paul can do anywhere.
Citizen Joe,
There’s no one who wants RP to win as much as I do But we’re not going to win by hyperbole. And if we don’t have a realistic view of where we’re at then we can’t make a plan to get to where we want to be.
The blind Zogby poll in your first link does not support Mr. Letten’s claim of 25% in NH (he appears to have edited his original blog). The second link was from some time ago and Zogby maxed Dr. Paul at 18%. The final poll prior to Iowa predicted precisely Dr. Paul’s 10% support (http://www.presidentpolls2008.com/). So that poll was dead-on accurate. Dr. Paul is now at 8-9% in NH in the polls. The question is what do we between now and Jan 8 to improve his numbers. But setting the expectation for a 25% finish will crush enthusiasm when the polls close Tuesday night.
I respectfully disagree. 25% is not out of he question, especially when some polls have us in the high teens.
I will say that yes, I felt obligated to edit that 25% because I think I was given some erroneous info. I should have researched it more before originally posting it.
Again, Mr. Letten, with all due respect, which polls? Please cite your source(s). Here’s my source, a poll aggregation site, http://www.presidentpolls2008.com/
There was a recent Rasmussen report which put Ron Paul at somewhere between 14 and 16%. I am having issues with getting the page the Rasmussen page to load, but i woudl encourage you to look into that.
I saw that too, great news. It’s from today, after you wrote your article and still isn’t even high teens (14%).
Look, I appreciate your RP support and if you don’t want to cop to exaggerating that’s your call. I say we should be careful with what we write and publish. Let the other candidates and their supporters be the fibbers; we’ll be the folks firmly planted in reality and telling the truth.
Interestingly, I can’t get onto that Rasmussen site either on any of my computers or handheld. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this information being blocked?
Ron Paul is on fire, and deservedly so. I sincerely hope he wins the nomination…
How could anyone not see that Ron Paul is our only choice?!?! Just so you know that all Christians don’t follow the herd, Matt!
I got choked-up over Iowa, but remembered reading that Obama and Huckabee are the two considered easiest to beat…darnedest thing that they got the votes?!? Can you imagine…fraud!?!
I hope it encourages y’all to know that I crossed three states to go “home for the holidays” and saw Ron Paul banners and signs all along the route!
Obama is not going to be easy to be at all.
He will be running for President> Hillary is history
John Edwards is next
Yeah, maricyv, Obama bothers me b/c he’s deceptive and evasive…the others we already know what we’d be getting, but he is considered to have “charisma”… and Oprah…emotional exploits rather than common sense im(not-so)ho.
A sincere question: do that many people really just believe what the candidates say and not read?
please do not think i was in any way painting ALL christians as herd following war mongers.
I respect anyone no matter what they believe….As long as they think for themselves. Thanks for your blog Odale, I added you to my blogroll!
Ah, I didn’t take it that way, Matt! I just razzed you b/c it’s such a hyper-sensitive world and even when you try not to offend, it happens…somehow! I can’t blame those who are not Christian for thinking we’re what those in the public eye present or by what I see being said on some so-called Christian blogs…??? I try diligently to follow Jesus’ example.
Anyway, I went to Facebook and followed the debate from there while it was on TV tonight…did anyone else see the supporters and detractors in Facebook? One thread that caught my attention was where some RP supporters were stating that there is a lot of RP support that’s being ignored (in their polls). Pretty interesting comments over there and it did my heart good to see those who know RPs policy proposals.
Thanks for adding me, Matt and I will reciprocate! Great to meet you! When you have time, the links in the recent Ron Paul post at my blog has some great info to help in “talking points”. Actually, I found the fraud link from Iowa…I’ll go get it in case you’re interested…
http://www.blackboxvoting.org/ << think that may be the one “Justice Ranger” was talking about here…
Consider this: Iowa is an agricultural state and farmers love subsides. Ron Paul has never supported farm subsidies. All things considered, 10% is a damned fine showing.
